I don't know how it happened but I have gained 2.9kg since the last time i weighed myself.Truth is I have not exercised ever since I lost 300g.I feel very bad now because I'm supposed to blog about my progress.I've been trying to delay an update until I lose at least 5kg then I would have something positive to talk about.I'm really struggling with this weight loss thing.
I did a check on my daily routine and found out that:
1) I have stopped eating my kids' leftovers.
2)I have stopped taking sugar.(replaced that with honey).........

BUT

3)I still snack in between meals.
4) I still eat after 8pm.
5)I am not eating enough fruits and vegetables.
6)I am not exercising enough........come to think of it,I have not been exercising at all.

I keep thinking within me that I just can't keep up with it.Even though I know I have to shed this excess fat,I just can't get myself to be steady and consistent.It's like a battle going on in my mind.One voice tells me....I can do it..........the other voice says.........no you can't!
I need strong will power to overcome this fight!
These simple words by Debbie Rocker of Walkvest explained in simple terms all that I needed to do.

"Changing your mind and you must, because if you have been trying to lose weight, but cannot, there is something inside of you that is disallowing it...But you may say, “I just want to lose 20 lbs, if I do I will feel better about myself and I will be happy.” Maybe in the short term, but honestly, if we don’t address our mental and emotional fitness (and we can do it while working on the physical), there is very little chance of: a) keeping the weight off, b) feeling good about yourself, and c) improving every other area of your life.

Let’s not waste time on changing our bodies when they will only change back if we don’t change our minds, too. Let’s work "out" and work "in" at the same time. Changing your mind – and you must, because if you have been trying to lose weight, but cannot, there is something inside of you that is disallowing it. You can change this pattern, improve your self-esteem, increase your joy, and change your body for good by focusing on changing your mind, too. This is training for life.

Work-ins will recondition your mind, improve your attitude, change your perception and stimulate motivation at the same time you are conditioning your body for weight loss, shaping, strength and endurance.If you repeat a positive statement over and over to yourself – like a mantra, your mind will change, the same way your body does."

Today is the seventh day of a new month and the battle line has been drawn!I have written down 7 things that I have to do in other to shed a minimum of 10kg this April.
1) I must walk at least 30 minutes five times a week.

2) I must visit the gym at least 4 times a week.

3) I must not eat anything after 6pm.

4) I must create a food journal.

5) I must drink 8 glasses of water daily.

6) I must keep a positive "can-do" mindset. Focus on my goal daily and go after it with all my heart and soul!

7) I must update this blog more regularly.

Next update will definately be more positive.

I will be on TV this month on a show called 'Temptation Nigeria'.It airs every monday at 7:30pm on Mnet Channel Dstv.So Nigerian bloggers watch out for a fat lady in a fat purple outfit.

Join me and kemi on the Atkins Diet. U can be our third diet buddy. I'll email you some literature on Atkins so you can have an idea of which foods are acceptable or not. Remember we can only do so much to encourage you. The rest of the journey has to be undertaken by you and with hardwork, focus and determination, it is possible. Just set ur eyes on where you want to be and not waiver.

So you are going to be on Mnet this month huh? Too bad I wont get to see it. Put a clip on you tube pls so the rest of us over here can get to see it too please?!?!?!

....Hiya, you visited my blog and I wanted to say thanks...also I've read your agonising stories about losing weight. Pele oh! i feel you. This Easter period I am away from home. Hubby, myself and the kids are visiting my sister's-in-law and their family near Manchester. Our 13 year old nephew got this fab remote controlled airplane that he wanted to try out in a park, so we all went (taking along with us, a cricket bat and ball)...i tell you, we had sooooo much fun. i decided to run around after my 2 yr old in the open field (we went up a sloppy bit and ran down it, shouting "weeeeee" as we went, and did it all over again, and again and again!) later we all played cricket...i tell you by the time we got back, there were muscles aching that I never knew existed! So what's my point - incorporate exercise into everyday affairs and the more fun you make it the better chance you have to stick to it! Luckily the weather is changing for the better in the UK, so I will definitely be taking the kids to the park more!

Well, I really don't know :-(. It's so easy to make plans and just as easy not to follow them. I think Calabar Girl's suggestion should work -- there'll be two more people besides you to hold yourself to the diet...

u can do it....
take it one day at a time
i lost 30-35 pounds summer 1996

i use to be size 18 ...now i am 10-12 american size...

u have to believe in urself...
eating late is really bad...

i will have to blog about my weight one day....i still battle with my weight...but i know i wont be a size 18 ever again by God's grace...

chioma momah can tell u how big i was ....

U CAN DO IT .... trust urself....

true true..my girl msmt...still loves food (like me) but she has been able toi shed oiff awhole lot of weight and its been off for some years now..You can do it! You go girl!
Really if msmt could do it living in America (with all that fast food) then you can. Also don't forget to commit it to God..remeber he wants us to be healthy and happy..dont worry about what u added just resolve to take it all off ..lots of stories of incredible weight loss..read em and be encouraged.Happy Easter

forgive me ... but this sounds like a lot of mumbo jumbo. If the doctor tells you tomorrow that you must lose weight or you will have an 80% chance of having a stoke / diabetes, what will you do? My sister, you will lose that weight in a heartbeat.

I just found out I was pregnant. So, me that does not like spinach... has been eating raw spinach and other leafy greans 4 times a day. Why? for the sake of a healthy child.

Now... you can do it. Just think of your children, and stop taking the easy route. Fat does a lot of damage to your health. Your appearance is secondary.
Excess fat puts you at risk for certain diseases.

You can do it. Think of something more important than yourself... your children. Do it for them.

Hope you don't get offended.

My dear, stay strong and focused, I have just "weaned" myself off candies and sodas, now i am walking everyday for 20 mins, at first, it was a struggle, but now I am looking foward to my evenings alone with my thoughts. I got a schedule from "londonbuki" for jogging and I am finally starting! Good luck!

I am so sorry you aren having the success you thought you would at this weight loss! I personally believe part of the problem has been solved since you know what you shouldnt be doing.

Follow through and believe in yourself. You can definitely make it happen.

On another note, purple on large women is a no no. It brings to mind Barney!! Hope this doesnt offend you. Darker colors will make you look slimmer and will hide a lot.

@the colourful one: what do you mean atkins is not the way? It has worked for my friend and I have seeen the results. She dropped from a size 20 to a Size 12 and is still loosing weight. Ha!! To each his own oh. Me, I believe firmly in Atkins. (smile)

I know what you mean aboout reconditioning your mind.
I have good voices in my head telling me what I need to do to lose weight, propelling me forward, encouraging me. Unfortunately the good voices are usually loudest AFTER a big meal. They go silent before I eat or snack.
Then theres the bad voices that tells me that broccoli, and anything green is bad. That the portion on my plate is not big enough, that if my food is not deep fried it wont taste good.
I really need to adress these voices in my head.

@ CG.....Thanks a million,I need an exercise buddy now.My diet is okay I just need to exercise a lot more.
I'll see what I can do to ge the clip.

@roz......Exercising will be a lot more fun once my body stops aching.I started aerobics on Monday and as I sit now,typing away,every muscle in me is A-C-H-I-N-G!

@MSMT....I'm taking one day at a time now really I am.Mistake I made was to think the fat will suddenly dissappear after all the hardwork.Now I'm learning to take it easy and lose it steadily.thank you.

@Chioma......Thank you so much.I know I can do it.I lost 10kg in 3weeks sometime ago in 2001.I can do it again.

@Anonymous..........No way am I offended.I'm not.The first time the doctor told me of the ills of being overweight I weighed 82kg,I was 10kg bigger then,7years ago.Not to worry I've begun the journey and I'll arrive at my destination.

@littlegirllost.......LOL @ those 'voices'.I've not only addressed them,I've banned them from coming into my head.Right now,I can only hear the good voices.The voices that tell me to get up and hit the gym in spite of my aching body.

All the comments i read is making me to think again about starting on a diet/exercising.Iam size 16 uk but want to go back to my pre-babies day when i was 12 and its been so difficult to go back to that size and funnily,iam hypeactive and hardly eat more than one in a day and the fat refuse to go.Mrs dont stop till you achieve your goal and dont forget you have somebody here you are mentoring on weightloss!

Hi mrs somebody,
I am in the same boat, i dont like exercise and i need to loose weight i decided to go on a diet, but its a bit extreme, its called the liquid diet and its only if you have the willpower you can do it.
Its drinking nutritionally balanced drinks, i have been on it for a week now and i lost 1stone, i must warn you its not for the faint hearted!
There are many sites you can read up on it.
goodluck and keep up, set your mind to it and you can achieve it

Good luck. I can imagine it can't be easy but I am certain you will succeed. A good friend of mine tried the pin-rolling stuff and swears it works, although painful. Apparently the exercise breaks down the fat or something. However your previous negative experience with it was terrible!
